Authorities in Eritrea’s Gash-Barka Region say 890,000 Nakfa contributed by the public and government workers in the Molqui and Golij sub-zones has been distributed to families of martyrs in connection with Martyrs Day commemorations.

According to the official report, 90,000 Nakfa was distributed in Molqui during a 17 June ceremony marking Martyrs Day, while 800,000 Nakfa contributed in Golij was also disbursed to families identified by their respective administrative areas.

Officials presenting the support said the contributions reflect continued public respect for Eritrea’s martyrs and renewed attention to the welfare of their families. Regional administrators also called for the effort to be sustained over time rather than treated as a one-off gesture tied only to annual remembrance events.

The update comes as communities across Eritrea and the diaspora continue to mark Martyrs Day with commemorations, fundraising, and public pledges tied to remembrance and national responsibility.
