KHARTOUM - At least 28 civilians were killed and 39 others injured, including 10 women, during a targeted offensive by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in North Darfur on Tuesday. According to the Sudan Doctors Network, the fatalities occurred during a heavy rocket attack on the town of Mustariha, a known stronghold of Arab tribal leader Musa Hilal. The assault reportedly destroyed the area's only functioning health center and involved the detention of medical personnel. Witnesses reported that the RSF fighters utilized drone strikes and heavy artillery before moving in for a ground offensive that forced thousands of residents to flee to neighboring villages. The medical group has called the incident a 'fully fledged crime' and a violation of international humanitarian law. This escalation comes as the RSF seeks to consolidate its control over the Darfur region while the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) maintain influence in the capital, Khartoum.
